Servicepark Is Back — Rebuilt from the Ground Up

Servicepark has been supporting UK enthusiasts keep track of their vehicles for nearly 15 years, but it was getting dusty. We’re excited to announce it’s now had a complete restoration!

By Sam Ellis

For the machines worth protecting.

After more than a decade (Dan & Sam founded Servicepark in 2012 can you believe!) of helping UK enthusiasts track their vehicles, we've rebuilt the whole thing from scratch. I guess you could say Servicepark has been laid up a while, starting to feel like a barn-find, but now it’s back having undergone a complete restoration 🎉

Same idea, same commitment to keeping it free, but a product that's genuinely worthy of the cars you're putting into it.

Why we rebuilt it

The original version of Servicepark did its job, but that was it. Much like many of our cars, it had its frustrations: slow in places, awkward in others, and a few rough edges that never quite got smoothed out.

Rather than keep patching it, we started over. The result is faster, more reliable, more secure and just a lot nicer to use day to day. I mean, we’re super proud of it, and encourage all feedback whether you feel the same way or not!

What's new

Improved uploads

Receipts, invoices, workshop reports, photos. The old upload system had limits that got in the way more than they should have. The new one handles larger files, processes them faster, and doesn't fall over.

Improved dashboard

The dashboard has been redesigned from scratch. Within a vehicle page you’ll see upcoming reminders, due dates and recent records all where you'd expect them to be, without having to dig around. It's a lot easier to get to what you need.

See what your car is actually costing you (uh-oh)

Okay, we debated on this one for a while - you can now see how much you’ve spent on your pride and joy. It’s been super interesting for us, so we threw it in there - but feedback is always welcome!

You can also see a cost-per-mile figure based on your records and mileage, providing you’re adding mileage to your records of course (because you are, aren’t you?).

New owner transfers experience

Updated vehicle transfer UI

The journey transferring vehicles to a new owner was a bit confusing, we get it. We've improved the experience, and added a "claim" page for transfers - more hand-holding and still just as secure as it always was.

What's coming next

The rebuild gives us a proper foundation to build on, and we've got a lot planned. Here's a taste of what's coming:

Invoice scanning. Take a photo of a receipt or invoice and Servicepark will read it and populate the record for you. This is a big one that we’re super excited about. It's the thing that makes catching up on years of paperwork actually achievable rather than a weekend you keep putting off.

A to-do list. For all those jobs you know need doing but haven't booked in yet. That knocking from the offside front. The intermittent electric window. The things living rent-free in your head - which I sure am looking forward to offloading!

MOT data. When you add a vehicle, we’re now pulling in make/model/MOT from DVSA - but that is just the start. We're going to start pulling advisories into your records and use the mileage data from MOT history to give you better insights, like miles covered per year, the ability to set reminders and add advisories straight to your to-do list (that’s coming, too), and…

Mileage-based reminders. Because some things are due every 6,000 miles, not every six months. Time-based reminders are staying, but mileage triggers are coming alongside them.

Enhanced profile pages. More photos, space for a proper writeup, and the ability to list your car for sale with a price attached. A Servicepark for-sale profile tells a buyer everything a picture of a load of paperwork never could.

Modifications alongside your service history. Mods are part of a car's story too. We want everything on one timeline, so nothing gets lost between the records.

And much more!

The history belongs to the car (or bike, boat, tank...)

When you've looked after a vehicle properly, that record is worth something. Not just to you, but to the next person who owns it. A complete, honest service history tells a story that a folder of loose receipts can’t quite manage. It's worth more at sale, it inspires more confidence, and it's something you can feel good about handing over.

That's what Servicepark is for - building something worth passing on.

Frequently asked questions

Is Servicepark still free?

Yes. Servicepark's core features will always be free for personal use. We'll likely introduce some optional paid features down the line to keep the lights on, but the core product - adding vehicles, logging records, setting reminders - stays free.

I had an account before, is my history still there?

Yes, everything has carried over. Log in and you'll find your vehicles and records exactly as you left them.

Can I use Servicepark for any type of vehicle?

Pretty much. Cars, bikes, vans, campervans - if it has a service history worth keeping, Servicepark will look after it.

How does the MOT data import work?

When you add a vehicle by registration, Servicepark pulls the make, model and MOT details directly from the DVSA. No extra typing required. We're building on this further to bring in advisories and mileage-based insights too.

What's the cost-per-mile figure based on?

It's calculated from the records and mileage you've logged in Servicepark. The more complete your history, the more accurate the figure - so it's worth adding mileage to your records if you aren't already.

Who built Servicepark?

Dan and Sam started Servicepark in 2012. It's an independent project, built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, out of a need to track servicing and modifications of our own cars. I think at that time Sam had a ropey '91 mx-5, and Dan's daily was an 80's VW Scirocco. Good times.
